Lonie’s prior visits have taken him to llinois, Ohio State, Michigan and Louisville.
“I also took an unofficial visit to Kentucky this past weekend when I was down there to see some friends,” he said. “I had a good time there. I got to see the facilities and visit a little with the coaches. I’m also talking to Texas A&M. They’ll be in tomorrow to visit with me. I’ve enjoyed every visit.”
Does the Australia native have a favorite?
“I don’t really have a favorite,” he said. “I don’t have one that has particularly stood out above the others. Cal scores a lot of points and I am excited about that in a school. They aren’t the level of a program of Michigan or Ohio State, but I need to look at what is best for me.”
Lonie has performed well this season and that has increased the recruiting efforts from schools.
“Initially they all were recruiting me for place kicking and kickoffs,” Lonie said. “But, my punting has taken off so well this year. I’m up for All-American punter this year. Teams in the league at the next level are looking for guys who can kick-off and punt, so all that will be helpful later on, hopefully.”
Lonie was inelgible when he arrived from Australia due to some core classes not transferring for him.
“I was going to go to Ohio State, but I couldn’t make that work,” he said. “Now, I’ve got that taken care of.”
Lonie is scheduled to sign with his college choice during the December signing period.
