Juco DT sticking with placement

After signing with Kentucky out of high school, it looks like Garden City (Kan.) Community College defensive tackle Mike Cross plans on returning to the Wildcats after he graduates the junior college.
The 6-foot-6, 320-pounder that was originally from Columbus, Ohio, is now on the Broncbuster roster and coach J.J. Eckert said Cross' intentions are to return to Lexington.

"He was placed by Kentucky, and that's where he intends to go back to," Eckert said. "All signs we've gotten from Kentucky is that they want them back, so that's where it'll remain until we hear differently."
Cross has a tough battle ahead of himself this fall. With the Jayhawk Conference limited on the number of out of state prospects they can play, he might end up not making the Broncbusters' active 55-man roster. Still it's not that uncommon for players out of the Jayhawk Conference to sit out a year and not play but still sign with Division I schools.
Clemson signee Chris Russell did it last fall at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College and several players on the Garden City roster might have that happen for them this fall.
Out of high school, Cross picked the Wildcats over offers from Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Miami of Ohio, Ohio and Toledo. He played high school football at Columbus Marion-Franklin and was ranked as a two-star prospect.
