Juco DE commits to Kentucky

Three-star Dodge City (Kan.) Community College linebacker/defensive end Cedric Koger will be continuing his career in the Southeastern Conference.
“I called Kentucky today and let them know I was committing to them,” he said. “I was scheduled to take another official visit to UAB this past weekend, but we had a snowstorm and I got snowed in. I was thinking about it over the weekend, and I knew that Kentucky was the place I wanted to be anyway.

“I just felt very comfortable when I went there – both as a football player and a student. They have everything I’m looking for.”
Koger (6-5, 247, 4.6) was an All-KJCCC selection this year after recording 70 tackles and 8.5 sacks. He said a chance to play outside linebacker and get immediate playing time were big factors in his decision to pick UK over offers from UAB, East Carolina, Clemson and Troy State.
“When I called to let coach Archer know, he was pretty excited,” Koger said. “He said I can really help their defense next year.”
Koger plans to sign on Wednesday, the first day junior college players can do so. He said he’ll arrive in Lexington “around Jan. 14.”
“I can’t wait to get up there and start working out and getting to know my teammates,” he said. “I’m ready to be a Wildcat.”
