JUCO DBs pick up first offers

A pair of defensive backs from Orchard Park (N.Y.) Erie C.C. have picked up their first offers of the recruiting process.
Needless to say, Mohammed Saleh and Destry Berry are excited about recent developments. The University of Akron has extended a verbal offer to both young men.

We have heard a bit about Saleh over the past few months but Berry is a new name on the recruiting radar. At 5-foot-11 and 185-pounds, Berry has been clocked at 4.43 seconds in the 40-yard dash by his coaches at Erie C.C.
Both Saleh and Berry project as defensive backs in the Division I ranks and they are hoping to finish at Erie by December so they can enroll at a new school the following semester.
"When I was talking to Akron's coach throughout the week I knew he was interested in me," Saleh explained. "He was just saying, 'When I get up there we'll talk.' It was obvious he was interested.
"I didn't know he was going to be offering one of my teammates, though (Berry). The coach from Akron is just waiting on our transcripts to come through. He said we can transfer whenever we finish at this community college. He said he's going to talk to me later about a visit."
Saleh said he is grateful for the offer but isn't ready to start thinking about making a decision. Coaches from Utah State and FIU have been showing a lot of interest lately. He also holds an offer from Central Connecticut State.
Berry has been receiving interest from Oregon State and Buffalo. The Beavers asked him to come out for a visit in the spring but he wasn't able to make that trip.
