Roswell (N.M.) New Mexico Military Institute three-star cornerback Vincent Butler hopes to eventually make it to Waco, Texas, and wear a Baylor Bear uniform.
Butler originally planned to graduate in December and enroll at Baylor in January. However, there has been a change in those plans. He hopes to be eventually fully qualified and then if things work out end up playing for the Bears.
But there still remains some confusion.
"Well, I'm not sure what's happening right now," Butler, who is 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds, said.
"I'm still waiting to be cleared from the Clearinghouse. I'll probably have to wait until summer to enroll at Baylor.
"I still want to go to Baylor, but we'll see. New Mexico State calls me all the time, their coaches stay on me."
As a sophomore at New Mexico Military, Butler recorded 22 tackles (18 solos, four assists), and four PBUs in nine games. Opposing offenses stayed away from the quick, physical cornerback, but he felt he was able to make his impact on the field in 2006.
Butler ended his career at NMMI with 69 tackles (56 solos, 13 assists), five TFLs, one sack, one interception, and 13 PBUs.
