JUCO back is heading east

Recently, Memphis continued its run on junior college prospects picking up its 8th commitment of the 2009 recruiting class and fourth junior college prospect among that group when Isaac Williams, An all-purpose back out of Sacremento (Calif.) El Camino Junior College committed to the Tigers.
"I verbally committed yesterday," Williams said. "But I do plan on keeping my options open. I still want to take other visits. I know they've got a good program. I've been following them for a few years. [Recruiting coordinator Justin Crouse] is a good friend of mine. I think I can come over there and start early and have an impact on the program."

In the mold of several other Memphis recruits in the 2009 class, Williams has a lot of versatility. At 6-foot-0, 194 pounds, he is a running back with wide receiver ability. He has athleticism with a sub-4.4 40 time, a 39 inch vertical and a 4.37 shuttle. He also has strength as he can bench press 185 pounds 26 times.
"My coach says I'm like (USC running back) Joe McKnight," he said. "I'm a Reggie Bush-type runner. Kansas State likes me and they say they want to bring Reggie Bush to Kansas State."
While Memphis is his only offer to date, Williams has been receiving interest from programs such as Arizona, Wyoming, Nevada, UNLV and Oregon. He does anticipate taking a look at other options before signing with Memphis.
"Honestly, I did want to stay at home," said the California native. "That's why I want to keep my options open. If someone were to offer, I'm not going ot rule anybody out. I do like to stay close to home but right now Memphis is showing me the most interest so I'm going to show them the most interest."
