Jr. DB has two leaders

One of the top defensive backs prospects for the Class of 2011 from the state of Florida is Cortez Davis. Davis, 6-5 and 190 pounds, plays cornerback for Daytona Beach Mainland.
"I am having a good season," Davis said. "People don't think I can play cornerback at 6-5. I am good in coverage. Teams don't throw to my side and that gets a little aggravating but it's also a compliment. Some schools like me at safety while some like me at cornerback. I want to play safety. I love coming down hill and bringing the wood."

According to Davis he has scholarship offers from five schools in writing and many other verbal offers.
"The first to offer me was Louisville after my freshman year. My first one in writing was from Texas Tech. I was very surprised at that. I now have got five in writing from Texas Tech, Florida State, Oregon, Clemson and Miami."
Davis grew up a FSU fan but at this time it's two other ACC teams that he currently favors.
"I always have been a Florida State fan. I like the transition with Jimbo Fisher and they put a lot of people to the league. My father is a big Florida State fan and when they offered me it made my day. But my two favorite schools right now are Miami and Clemson.
"I am a big Miami fan. I know some people there and I like how they play.
"I like the coaching staff and players at Clemson. One of my teammates (Marlin Lane) is going there and I would love to play with him. We play football and basketball together.
"I will make my decision when I am ready. It could be shortly, in another two months or so. I would like to do it after the season."
Davis averaged 17 points last season and played every position but center. On the football field he also plays wide receiver.
"I am a red-zone guy. I have one touchdown receptions this season."
Davis is going to Clemson this Saturday when they play Wake Forest. So far this season he has been to Florida/Tennessee and FSU/South Florida.
