Joshua Ezeudu commits to UNC

On December 1, 2017, the North Carolina Tar Heels offered offensive tackle Joshua Ezeudu a scholarship. That offer changed things.

Before the offer from Larry Fedora, Colorado State, Connecticut and Missouri were schools high on his list, but once the Tar Heels offered, they rose to the top of his list, then during his official visit last week, the Peach State senior knew he wanted to call Chapel Hill home.

"I knew as soon as North Carolina offered that I was probably going there," said Ezeudu. "I knew I liked the school a lot and then on the visit, it hit me that North Carolina was the definitely the school for me.

"I told coach Kap (Chris Kapilovic, offensive coordinator) on Saturday, then with my parents and coach Kap there, I told coach Fedora of my decision Sunday before heading back home.

"I saw everything I needed to see on the visit, so I knew what I wanted to do."

It sounded like an easy decision for Ezeudu, a top 70 prospect in the state of Georgia. Halfway through the visit his mind was made up and he feels North Carolina has all he needs to be successful.

"It is just a good school and a good place for me. North Carolina is a top five public school in education, the athletic program is very good and it is just a great fit.

"I like the campus, the coaches are great guys and I feel it is perfect for me and what I need in a school."

When asked about who was more excited about the decision, Ezeudu or the Tar Heel staff, he said that was a tough one because all were "super excited".

What Ezeudu could answer though is how he feels inside right now. He knows so many dream to be where he is right now and he knows how much he has accomplished to get to this point.

He knows there is still a lot of work to do, but he is so happy to be in this moment.

"I would not have done any of this without God, so I am so thankful for Him," said Ezeudu. "I can't even explain how I feel inside right now. It is a good feeling, but it is hard to explain.

"I know I have put a lot of work in, but there is so much more to do because I want to go farther. It is a blessing to have this opportunity at North Carolina and I feel very strong about my commitment to them.

"I am very excited about my future there."
