Jones talks summer visits

Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence Central wide receiver Kenny Jones has been quiet this summer in comparison to several of his teammates who have made recruiting headlines. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound wideout's recruitment continues to roll on, though.
"I have four offers now, from IU, Louisville, Illinois and Iowa State," Jones reported. "As far as where I am going to go, I haven't decided yet and probably will wait until the middle of the season to commit. Everybody is still even - I'm not putting anyone ahead yet."

Jones said he has spent much of the summer doing research on the schools that have offered. Part of that research included visiting a couple college campuses.
"We went on a visit to Louisville sometime in late June," Jones said. "We got to look at the dorms and see how the college life is. I knew a couple students, so I told them to come meet me at the football field. I got a good feel for them and I think I fit in perfect down there. Everybody is cool and calm.
"Me and [teammate Brandon Lee] took a visit to IU. That was not too long ago, probably early July. We just caught up with some people who went down there, like Antonio Allen. He said it is nice and he likes it down there. I think they are going in the right direction. They won some big games last year, and I think they are going to be straight this year."
Jones said he was also supposed to take a visit to Illinois over the summer, but had a family obligation that prevented him from making the trip. He did attend the Illini's junior day this past winter.
Iowa State is a school Jones has yet to visit, but he plans to travel to Ames in the near future.
"I'm planning on going up there soon, seeing what they are like and check out a practice," Jones said.
On the field, Jones will kick off his senior season Aug. 23 against Lawrence North. He and his teammates are defending a Class 5A state title this fall, and have many of their top playmakers back from a year ago.
