Jones sorting through options

Nacogdoches (Texas) Rivals100 safety Brandon Jones has been working hard to narrow his options and it has not been easy.
His list of top schools currently includes Texas A&M, Texas, Baylor, Oregon, USC, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Alabama, TCU, and LSU, but he has a few more visits plans this summer and he hopes to narrow his list even further.

"I've been looking into that. I mean I'm really trying to get a top six or a top seven here before summer is over," Jones said. "I really don't have too many more visits this summer. I'm probably just trying to hit Florida State and then Oklahoma and Oklahoma State and then TCU."
He has already visited Texas, Texas A&M, and Baylor, with the Baylor Bears really helping themselves on his visit.
"I was for sure a little surprised when I went on that Baylor visit," Jones said. "I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. They've been with me for awhile since my sophomore year. So I've really been keeping them in touch and that visit made me realize that much more that I am pretty interested in them."
Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Florida State are hoping to see a similar rise after he visits their campuses this summer. Ole Miss is another program working hard to stay in the running with five-star quarterback commit Shea Patterson really putting in a strong effort.
In addition to Patterson, Jones hears plenty from Oregon commit Seth Green and Baylor commitment Kameron Martin. Florida State has a whole crew of prospects keeping in touch, and LSU commitments Feleipe Franks and Eric Monroe are also letting him know they would like to be teammates.
There is so much to see and so much information to process, and while he wants to narrow his list soon he also knows he does not want to make the decision before he is ready.
Right now it is too early to narrow his options but he does admit there are a few schools he feels have a strong chance of making the cut when that time comes.
"I don't know. I really wanted to get it to a top five but there's some schools I could not... Like I want them to make the list but I'm not sure if they would or not," Jones said. "I know for sure Texas and Texas A&M and LSUand Oregon and Alabama will for sure find a spot on that list, but I'm not too sure about the other schools.
"Like I said Baylor is a school I have really high interest in now with the visit making it more. I'm not sure if they'll bump a team off or not but I'll keep that in mind. And Ole Miss too. I really like them. That's why I'm not too worried about releasing a list now because if I release a list now something will change and I don't want to be that guy to change stuff up."
One thing he does know is that he plans to take his official visits. He does not have any scheduled, but he does know two schools who will receive official visits.
"Yes, Oregon will for sure get one," Jones said. "And Ohio State, yeah that's another team right there, that I'm highly interested and they could make the cut, and that's a for sure visit right there. Just those two for right now. Just Oregon and Ohio State."
Jones also knows when he would like to make his college commitment.
"Honestly I'm just trying to enjoy the process because it is something that doesn't happen to everybody and it's a one time thing. So I'm really trying to enjoy it right now," Jones said. "I'm going to try and hold out until Signing Day to commit, but if anything comes up and I just really feel like I need to commit I'll do so. But the designated date is probably Signing Day."
