Jones planning visits

Nacogdoches (Texas) Rivals100 safety Brandon Jones is back from a knee injury which sidelined him for the majority of his junior season and he is on the track. He is focused on making another run to the state championships, but recruiting remains on his mind.
He has only been able to take a trip to LSU in 2015, and it proved to be very beneficial.

"First of all you can't go wrong with the food down there in Louisiana," Jones said. "I just went down there and there were some other recruits down there. There was Eric Monroe, Feleipe (Franks) who is committed down there, and JD and all that. But I had a pretty good time and built a stronger relationship with the coaches and I had a really serious talk with coach Miles. All the coaches kept it real with me, so it was a really good visit."
Jones does have a few visit plans for the near future.
"I'm talking to my mom this week," Jones said. "I might hit Ole Miss this weekend with Shea (Patterson) and Deontay (Anderson), but that depends because they're leaving Friday so I probably can't miss school for that. If not I'm trying to hit up Texas and Texas A&M one more time before April is over and then hit the rest of the Texas schools (TCU and Baylor) in May and June."
Jones is keeping an open mind, but he does have his top 10. In December he listed his top 10 as Ole Miss, LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas A&M, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida State. The list has not changed much since then, but he does have a few changes.
"I've kind of changed up the list from December," Jones said. "Right now, no order, it would probably be Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, TCU, Baylor, Ohio State, Florida State, and Oregon."
He is also growing closer to naming an even smaller group of standout schools.
"Not yet. I'm really just waiting. I'm probably going to release my top five or six because it's kind of hard to get down to five. I'm kind of waiting for Auburn to offer because they're pretty high on my list as well," Jones said. "They've been kind of late recruiting me. They jumped in early this year and I started talking to a lot of coaches down there. I feel like it could be a really good fit for me and I have some friends who go there and some friends who are committed as well."
Narrowing his list may be hard, but Jones does have a plan. He also has a plan on when he would like to make his college decision.
"I know for sure it will be after the football season next year, but I'm probably going to do it either at the Under Armour game or at the High School here," Jones said.
Jones is currently ranked No. 28 in the Rivals100 and No. 2 among the nation's 2016 safeties. He registered 30 tackles and two forced fumbles in five games as a junior.
