Jones not a secret anymore

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - As if the state of Texas didn't already have enough quality wide receivers in the class of 2007, another big one emerged at the NIKE Training Camp at Texas A&M this past weekend – Fort Worth (Texas) Everman receiver Jonathan Jones.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder has quietly been picking up verbal offers. Jones claims them from Arkansas, Kansas, LSU, Purdue, Utah, Washington State, and TCU among others. The talented young man had a solid season, but was looking to prove himself this past weekend with the other big time receiers.

"It helped me out a lot, but it also taught me a lot of things about my foot work and everything," Jones said. "I could have done better just like I say after every practice. I just want to be the best."
With the offers in hand from several top programs, it looks like Jones is on his way to that goal. Recruiting has surged in the last month.
"Arkansas, Purdue, LSU, Utah, and a lot of other schools have offered," he said. "I don't really have any big favorites, but I do like LSU and Arkansas quite a bit. Then at the same time, I also like schools like Oklahoma State and Oklahoma."
Jones hasn't taken any visits, other than to the NIKE Camp, but will head to camps at Texas, TCU, and Oklahoma.
"I want to improve before my senior year and also show what I can do," he said. "I need a little bit of work with my speed and I just want to get bigger. That's my goal to work on all of that this whole summer."
