Jones in high demand

Since picking up his first scholarship offer from Texas A&M, Nacogdoches (Texas) 2016 safety Brandon Jones has seen his list grow to include the likes of Florida State, LSU, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma.
It is not a bad time to be Brandon Jones, and he is soaking in all the process has to offer.

"I'm just trying to enjoy it while I can and I'm starting to get more schools interested in me and I'm just enjoying it right now," Jones said.
He is not in a hurry to decide at this point. In fact, the plan right now is for him to make his announcement at the 2016 Under Armour All-American Game.
That does not mean he does not have a favorite though. Texas A&M has been at the top of his list. At one point they were strong favorites. Now, other programs have begun to close the gap. However, the Aggies are still the team to beat, and they are the only school he has been able to visit due to track season.
The Aggies made a big impression on both Jones and his mother.
"I went for junior day and I went with my mom," Jones said. "She actually loved it there a lot. She likes that the main focus is academics and stuff, and I like it because they make it feel like you're pretty much still at home. The way they take care of you and they are a really good football team and produce really good football players in the league."
Who has been closing the gap on the Aggies?
"Right now of the teams that have offered me it would have to be LSU and I really like Notre Dame too," Jones said. "And probably Oklahoma. And Florida State for sure."
In addition to his offers he is receiving significant interest from the likes of Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan, and Alabama. He has already seen Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Penn State, and Auburn stop by spring practice, and he has a few visits of his own ahead on his schedule.
Jones will compete at the UIL State Track and Field State Championships in Austin, Texas, and he hopes to also check out the University of Texas. He plans to visit Florida State this summer, and he is talking with fellow Nacogdoches defensive back Jaylon Lane about visiting Notre Dame and Penn State
While the standout East Texan may not be in a rush to make a decision, he does know what he is looking for in a future college home. One thing he is watching is the depth chart and how quickly he can contribute, but that is not the only factor high on his list.
"I'd have to say a school that has a really good season every year and gets better throughout the year," Jones said. "They focus on their defense and are a defense kind of school and a school that let's their DBs do multiple things like blitz and play man. Also because I'm hoping to run track in college too so whichever school allows me to run track and has a really good track team will decide that."
