Jones impressive in opener

Wide receiver/cornerback Keenan Jones (6-0, 185, 4.4) from Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne high school lost a tough game to Pacific Palisades 12-10 in the season opener last Friday. Because of a new quarterback breaking in Narbonne wasn’t able to use his outstanding playmaking skills on the offensive side of the ball.
Even though Narbonne struggled on the offensive side of the ball they still were in position to win the ball game, but Narbonne missed what would have been the winning field goal in the closing seconds.

Something that has to change is Narbonne has is the fact that Jones didn’t get make a catch all night long. He was open but the young quarterback had a hard time getting the ball to him.
Look for that to change.
Defensively Jones racked up two tackles and while he was avoided all night.
Jones did get a chance to show off his punt return skills as he returned one punt for 60 yards.
Jones is being recruited as both a wide receiver and cornerback. He has received calls from UCLA, Oregon, Washington State, Michigan, Colorado, UNLV, Nevada and the two schools who have offers on the table, San Diego State and San Jose State.
No visits set yet. “I will start thinking about visits in the middle of the season,” Jones said. “Right now I want to concentrate on getting our season off to a good start.”
Jones had 27 receptions for 728 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging a whooping 27 yards per catch as a junior.
On defense he racked up 76 tackles, three picks (one that he brought back for score), and two fumble recoveries for the season of 2002.
