Jones has three favorites and a leader

One of the top uncommitted defensive prospects at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic is Tupelo (Miss.) defensive tackle P.J. Jones. After Tuesday's practice, Jones spoke about his recruitment.
"Recruiting is coming along," Jones said. "We are a premium and everyone is after us, so you just have to keep your head straight and figure out what you like and where you want to go."

At this point, the three-star defensive tackle has narrowed his list to a few schools.
"Arkansas, (Mississippi) State, Ole Miss, Southern Miss a little bit, Tennessee a little bit," Jones said. "Arkansas, State, and Ole Miss are the main three."
While he named a top three, Jones was within shouting distance of a group of Mississippi State commitments taking photos and he admitted he could easily see himself joining that group.
"I am liking (Mississippi) State as you can tell. State produces good football players," Jones said. "Coach (Dan) Mullen is doing a great job with things there. He is making those guys there believe and as you can see it is paying off on the field. The program has turned right around. I want to go to a school where I can win. I like winning."
Jones admits the the Bulldogs main SEC foe also has some qualities that make them appealing.
"Ole Miss is a great school," Jones said. "They have great coaches. They are struggling right now but that could be one of the things that makes them the right school for me. They are struggling and need help."
At this point, Jones has yet to hit the road for an official visit but that will change next month.
"I think the 21st I am going to Ole Miss and the week before that I am going to (Mississippi) State and the week before that I am going to Arkansas," Jones said.
As for a final decision, Jones isn't working with a specific timeline and admits it could be as early as Saturday at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic.
"It could be before Signing Day," Jones said. "It could be at the end of the this week, who knows."
Academically, Jones has scored an 18 on the ACT and expects to be a full qualifier.
