Jones eyes visits

Nacogdoches (Texas) Rivals100 safety Brandon Jones has his top six of Alabama, Baylor, LSU, Oregon, Texas, and Texas A&M, but other programs are still under consideration.
In fact, as he begins to schedule his official visits, a few schools outside of his top six are expected to receive visits.

"Well honestly I don't have any scheduled but I know where I want to take some," Jones said. "Some of them aren't in my top six but are schools I couldn't get out to and I want to get out there and see the campus and all that stuff. I know Ohio State would be one, Oregon, Ole Miss, probably Alabama, and I think UCLA."
He has talked about taking an official visit to an in-state program in the past. It is still a possibility, but most of his official visits will likely take him farther away.
"I'm not too sure," Jones said. "I've been to A&M about six or seven times. I have family that lives in the Dallas-area so with Baylor it's somewhere I could easily go if I wanted to. With Texas, that's a possibility on that one because it's kind of out there a little bit more than the other places. So maybe a Texas."
Dates have not been set for his official visits, and Jones is looking to take most of his visits after the 2015 season.
"Yes sir because for me its kind of hard with visits and football," Jones said. "With me being so far from everything and I have to watch film on Saturdays. It's kind of hard during the season."
He has taken an unofficial visit this fall. He attended Texas A&M's contest with Nevada, and the Aggies continue to make a positive impression.
"Well, I always have a great time going down there," Jones said. "I've been to an A&M game every year - sophomore year, junior year, and senior year - and even just being able to see the field change is really cool. I had a great time with the coaches. I got to talk to some of the players as well. I had a really good time."
A few other unofficial visits could also be in his future plans.
"So far when I've gone to these schools I've just taken my friends but my senior year I want to take my mom and my brothers and stuff. I went to A&M and I'm probably going to go to a Texas game for an unofficial, a TCU, and probably Baylor."
He does not have any games in mind right now.
He is not in a hurry with the recruiting process. He has his top six, he has a few ideas for his official visits, and he plans to take most of his visits after the season. He also knows one more thing about his list of favorites, there will be another cut.
"I'll eventually get it to three," Jones said. "I'm not sure when, but I know I'll get it down to three."
Jones is currently ranked No. 31 in the Rivals100, No. 2 among the nation's 2016 safeties, and No. 3 in the Rivals.com 2016 Texas Preseason Top 100.
