Leesburg (Fla.) wide receiver D'Mauri Jones possesses great size at 6-foot-4, 190-pounds. That size, combined with his athleticism, has led a lot of schools to take notice of the hidden treasure in the Sunshine State.
"I have heard from Florida, Florida State, Miami, West Virginia, USF, and some other schools as well," Jones said. "I have verbal offers from UCF, USF, West Virginia, and South Carolina. I think that is about it right there, at least that I know of."
So far, Jones has hit the road to check out a pair of in-state schools.
"I have been to Florida, Florida State, and I plan to head to Miami at some point," Jones said. "I visited Florida a little over a month ago and Florida State about two months ago. Florida was real good, it had a real nice feeling. I like the organization of Florida. I just felt real comfortable there. At Florida State, it is a bit smaller. I had family that went there (Florida State), so it is kind of a traditional thing. It was real good as well, I liked it."
While Jones claimed no favorite at this point in his recruitment, he said two schools have made a strong impression on him early on in his recruitment.
"I would have to say Florida State and Miami are my top schools at this point," Jones said.
As a junior, Jones had 40 receptions for 544 yards and 12 touchdowns. In addition to his contributions on the gridiron, Jones is a small forward on the basketball court.
