Johnson still a Cougar

In early mid-December the Washington State Cougars landed on of the Golden State’s fastest rising prospects in defensive lineman/tight end Aaron Johnson (6-6, 250, 4.79) from Fairfield (Calif.) Armijo.
Johnson was very happy when he committed to Mike Price and staff Saturday morning on December 14th.

A funny thing happened on Johnson’s way to Pullman. Cougar head coach Mike Price decided to take on the challenge of coaching the Alabama Crimson Tide shortly after Johnson committed to Washington State.
“I’m still very committed to Washington State,” Johnson said. “The other Pac10 teams I was interested in at the end filled their spots at the position I was being recruited in.”
“That’s okay because I liked Washington State anyway regardless of the coach,” Johnson said. “Washington State has an outstanding veterinary program and that is going to be my field of study.”
New Cougar head coach Bill Doba was quick to call Johnson one of WSU’s prize recruits.
“Coach (Bill) Doba called me and told me the only thing that’s going to change at Washington State is the coaches,” Johnson said. “For the most part football program will be the same.”
Doba told Johnson that any changes would be minor.
The Cougars will bring Johnson in as an athlete. He could end up playing tight end, defensive line or if he grows more he could end up as an offensive lineman.
Johnson was selected all-league on both sides of the ball as a senior as a tight end and defensive lineman. He was also voted Offensive lineman of the League for his performance as senior. Johnson was also voted all-city.
