Johnson seeing more interest

Taariq Johnson and his B2G 7on7 team had a tournament in the Midwest this past weekend so there was no better time for all of them to visit Notre Dame and Northwestern.
Neither school offered the 2017 wide receiver/tight end who just transferred from Long Beach (Calif.) Poly to Los Angeles (Calif.) Augustus Hawkins but Johnson got a much better feel for what's out there as his recruitment continues.

"I liked Notre Dame a lot," Johnson said. "It was someplace I could see myself. Brian Kelly was a nice guy.
"At Northwestern, I liked it there a lot because it's also high in academics and that's something I would like to have on the board."
The 6-foot-3, 206-pound recruit has seen his recruitment really take off in recent weeks as he's now landed offers from Baylor, Miami, Michigan, Ohio and Washington.
It's early and since schools are really just getting involved Johnson said he wants to remain open to all programs and doesn't have any favorites at this point.
"I'm kind of looking at everything in an even standpoint right now," Johnson said.
"I'm just looking at where I have the best chance of getting a great education and where I could get the best athletic experience as well."
More teams are getting in the mix. The Hawkins recruit said one Pac-12 school reached out earlier this week and others are showing interest as well.
"It's been going pretty well," Johnson said. "I just heard from Arizona (Wednesday) and I talked to them. I talked to San Jose State and a few other coaches and that's pretty much it so far."
