Johnson on the verge of new offer

Weston (Fla.) Cypress Bay safety Michael Johnson is one of the most physically impressive prospects in the country with his massive arms. He had a solid showing at the Miami NIKE camp and interest is picking up.
"Colorado State called me the other day and told me that they are looking at me really hard," Johnson said. "They told me that they were going to be watching me really closely and that they might offer soon. Florida International, Florida Atlantic, Central Florida and South Florida have all been sending me a lot of stuff recently."

The 5-foot-10, 203-pound Johnson attended the Miami NIKE camp where he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.66 seconds, the shuttle in 4.18 seconds, posted a 26-inch vertical jump and did 28 reps on the bench press.
"Iowa, Auburn, South Carolina, South Florida and Oklahoma would be my top five right now," Johnson said. "Ole Miss has told me that they want to see some more film me. We were supposed to play St. Thomas the first week but didn't because of the hurricane, but we upset Boyd Anderson this weekend so I will probably send them that film."
As a junior Johnson collected 65 tackles. In Cypress Bay's jamboree he collected 15 tackles and in their first game against Boyd Anderson he racked up 10 tackles.
"I haven't really thought about a timetable for committing or anything like that to tell you the truth," Johnson said. "This weekend I am going to go to the Florida Atlantic game so I hope I get an offer from them while I am there."
