Johnson fielding more interest

Four-star Southfield, Mich., safety Dior Johnson has been committed to Wake Forest since August, but several teams have shown interest since his senior season ended, most notably Minnesota.
"It's not that serious yet," Johnson said of his talks with Minnesota. "They're trying to make sure they want to come after me, but as of right now Wake Forest is still my top school. I have an official visit to Wake Forest on the 16th. If Minnesota does pull the trigger (on an offer), we'll go from there."

The communication with Minnesota is interesting because Johnson has ties to the Golden Gophers and likes what he has seen from their program.
"Right now they are doing pretty good in the Big Ten and are on the come-up," Johnson said. "My fellow (Southfield) DB, Ray Buford, is going there, so it would be a big plus to go there and play with him."
Minnesota is also still in the hunt for three-star athlete John Kelly of Oak Park, Mich., whom Johnson grew up playing little league football with.
Although Johnson is intrigued by the possibility of having Minnesota as an offer, he remains high on Wake Forest and anticipates his official visit next month.
"I am looking forward to it a lot," Johnson said. "I want to get down there, check out the school some more and check out some of the players too. I just want to make sure I make the right decision before February comes."
Wake Forest made several home visits with Johnson during the month of December, including a stop by the Demon Deacon's head coach.
"Coach (Dave) Clawson came by maybe two weeks ago," Johnson said. "We talked about the school and basically he was talking to my parents about the program. We had a good talk."
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Johnson finished his senior season with 55 tackles and seven passes defended on defense. He also caught six touchdown passes playing wide receiving on offense.
