Johnson excited after UCLA camp

Greg Johnson could be a star running back but at recent camps including the UCLA workout last week the 2017 prospect played cornerback and did a nice job.
It is still way early for the Los Angeles Augustus Hawkins recruit but UCLA along with a few other Pac-12 programs are already on the radar and Johnson said he's leaning more toward playing corner for years to come.

"At the UCLA camp there was really good competition," Johnson said. "It was a great day and I got some good work in.
"I'm interested in playing defensive back. I think I'll be really good at that position."
During his stop at UCLA, Johnson had a chance to talk with multiple coaches including Jim Mora. Since it's so early the message was to focus on academics and everything else will pretty much take care of itself.
No programs have offered yet but Johnson said along with the interest from the Bruins that Arizona and Colorado have reached out recently.
"I talked to the defensive backs coach and I talked to Jim Mora," Johnson said. "He told me to stay focused and to keep doing good in school because it's so early."
The Augustus Hawkins prospect - there are numerous standouts in the 2017 class there - said an early offer from UCLA would definitely be big and would be more motivation than anything. It's too early for leaders or favorites and at this point Johnson is just trying to get noticed.
He did a good job of that at the UCLA camp.
"If I was to get offered by UCLA it would be great," Johnson said. "I would stay even more focused after that and be hungry for more offers."
