Johnson delays decision

Euclid, Ohio three-star cornerback Anthony Johnson was ready to announce his decision this past weekend, but has now delayed those plans.
"I was ready to make a decision on the 18th, but some things happened," Johnson said. "That kind of altered my decision. I feel my decision right now is delayed until further notice."

Johnson traveled to Kentucky on Saturday and was prepared to make his commitment to the Wildcats, but they were already full at his position.
"They were only taking three defensive backs and I didn't know that," Johnson said. "Two of the defensive backs committed before I got the offer. Then, Tobias (Gilliam) committed two weeks after I got my offer from Kentucky."
Besides Kentucky, Johnson had been offered by eight other schools including Cincinnati. The Bearcats could be considered the de facto leader after Kentucky's exit.
"I am pretty high on Cincinnati right now," Johnson said. "Honestly, Cincinnati and Kentucky were both No. 1 with my decision. I was pretty content with both schools. I went down for their spring game back in April. That was the last time I've been down."
A decision is not likely in the near term. Johnson is drawing interest from other schools that could be on the verge of extending an offer.
"I think Illinois and Pittsburgh are close to offering me," Johnson said. "Illinois I have been hearing that they have very high interest in me because they just like my length and my speed on the outside. The same with Pitt - everybody likes my length and like that big 6-3 body on the outside covering wide receivers."
This Friday Johnson will close out his summer camp season with a trip down to Columbus to see the home-state Big Ten school.
"I am going to Ohio State's Friday Night Lights," Johnson said. "I will probably be in the camp, doing one-on-ones. At one point I believe they were looking at me pretty hard, but I haven't talked to them lately."
The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Johnson recorded 50 tackles, two interceptions and nine pass break ups as a junior for Cleveland Heights High. He has transferred to Euclid High for his senior season.
