Johnson adjusts to recruiting twists

The recruiting process can be full of ups and downs and there can definitely be some sharp and unexpected turns.
Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas More wide receiver Kendall Johnson has seen his share of twists over the course of his recruiting process, but as he heads to signing day he is making big plans.

He took his first official visit to Northwestern State on January 17, and came away impressed by what he saw.
"I felt comfortable because I have some guys that I know who go to Northwestern who graduated from STM and I played football with them," Johnson said. "I felt comfortable there. It was a homey feeling. I liked it. It was a good weekend. I had fun."
This weekend, he plans to take his second official visit to Nevada.
"They came to my house so I guess it's pretty serious," Johnson said. "They haven't offered me or anything, but they told me they may have a spot for me and they want me to go on an official because they think something may come up. So I'm going there Friday. I'm flying up there."
Johnson and Nevada are familiar with one another. He is being recruited by coach Ron Hudson, and he was even offered a scholarship in the spring. However, the opportunity appeared to be lost after he was unable to take a December official visit because he was playing in an All-Star game, while another prospect was able to visit and ended up committing.
Now, Johnson waits to see how Nevada's numbers will shake out.
Early in the recruiting process, Johnson also held offers from Tulsa, Tulane, and Louisiana-Monroe, but the schools have since filled their needs at his position.
Johnson is not ready to name a favorite right now, but he feels he will likely have a better idea about his situation in the near future.
"I guess I'll probably be more sure of my decision after this weekend," Johnson said. "After I visit Nevada."
In addition to Northwestern State and Nevada, Johnson is also receiving interest from Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
