Jimmy Miller stock, like offers, rise

One of the fastest rising prospects on the west coast is standout defensive end/tight end Jimmy Miller (6-5, 240, 4.6) from Westlake, Calif. Miller’s stock has been on the upswing since this spring and there isn’t any indication that it is going to cool down anytime soon.
One sure fire sign that your stock is on an upward turn is when rumors start circulating that that you have committed somewhere. You know your stock is red hot when the team you are rumored to be pledged also happens to be hot with recruits.

Well that is what happened to Miller when the recent word was that he had committed to the revitalized USC program. “Even some of my teammates asked me if I committed,” Miller said. “I don’t know where the rumor started but it is not true.”
Miller is rated by rivals.com as a four-star defensive end, but he also a stellar tight end and some teams like him as an offensive player.
“I talked to UCLA assistant coach (Gary) Bernardi,” Miller said. “He told me that I could play either position.”
USC, the team that Miller was rumored headed to, has also stated that Miller could play on either side of the ball.
With his stock soaring and now that Miller has most of his favorite teams scholarship offers firmly in place is there a decision coming soon?
“I thought I wanted to commit early,” Miller said. “Now that there are so many options, I have to take my time. I want to make sure I make the right decision.”
“I could make up my decision early in the season,” Miller said.
It seems to be a horse race between the two local schools UCLA and USC for his services.
Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Colorado and Notre Dame are all in the thick of it for Miller’s services, too.
All eight schools in the hunt have written offers on the table except Notre Dame and they have offered verbally.
Miller was selected first-team all-state underclassman, first-team all-CIF, first-team all-county, and first-team all-league as a junior after accounting for 80 tackles, 18 ½ sacks, 14 pass break-ups (as in deflected passes), between 15-to-20 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Whoever lands Miller will be getting a special football player who brings a lot to the table.
