Jimmy Miller: CaliFlorida Scouting Report

When Westlake (Calif.) athlete Jimmy Miller committed last summer to USC, we were a bit skeptical. We had seen Miller play twice as a junior and knew he was good but just weren’t sure he was USC good. After seeing him as a senior and all week during CaliFlorida Bowl practices, there’s no doubt the Trojans got a real gem in Miller.
Miller, who looks about 6-5, 245 pounds could end up at three different positions in college. He was the best tight end for the Cali squad all week in practice showing great hands and the ability to get down the field. Linebackers and defensive backs were bouncing off Miller all week when they tried to tackle him.

Miller could also play on the defensive line in college and had a big season as a rush end for the Warriors. He has good pass rushing technique, is quick off the ball and uses his hands well to get off blocks. We even think Miller could add some weight and become an excellent offensive lineman at the next level. He’s actually bigger right now and has a bigger frame than USC All-American OL Jacob Rogers did in high school who we had at a Nike Camp five years ago.
No matter where he ends up, Miller should be able to contribute by his red-shirt sophomore season and if he plays tight end, possibly even earlier than that. On top of his physical gifts, Miller is also a phenomenal kid who was voted as one of the four captains for the Cali squad. He was always quick to help out a teammate in learning the offense since it was the Westlake offense the team was running. The athlete is the kind of player you want representing your program and the type of person you want to root for in college and beyond.
