Jersey QB will prep at Hargrave

One of the top New Jersey quarterbacks for 2004 has decided that a prep year would give him the opportunity to make his presence felt in the world of D-I recruiting. Chris Allison of Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic will be at Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy this upcoming season.
"I decided to prep a year at Hargrave. I was given a scholarship and they told me that I'm their No. 1 quarterback for the upcoming season. Hargrave is known for producing D-I players every year."

Last season Allison threw for more than 1,750 yards and 19 touchdowns. It was his first season as a full-time starting quarterback and, although the 6-foot-3, 205-pound signal caller had a great season, college recruiters needed to see him with one more year under his belt.
"My high school coach, coach Stengel, and I just thought it was a great opportunity for me. Hargrave is known for gives me the shot to prove that I am a Division One quarterback."
Allison helped lead Bergen Catholic to the state championship game last year versus top-ranked Don Bosco and almost pulled out the upset.
"It was a great game and it came down to the very end. They were the No. 2 team in the nation (USA Today) and we almost knocked them off."
College recruiters are well aware of Allison’s choice to prep for a year and he has been receiving a great deal of interest.
"I'm still hearing from the same schools as last season, but this time I think it's real. Virginia, Boston College, Maryland, Penn State, Rutgers and a bunch of others are sending me mail."
Chris will be taking part in the ELITE College Combine 2004, an invitation only event at the Meadowlands on May 5th. More than 50 D-I coaches are expected to be there.
"It will be a great chance to show my skills," he said. "I'm excited about it."
