Jersey QB has major interest

Quarterback Chris Johnson out of Paterson (N.J.) John F. Kennedy holds a lone offer from Rutgers. The 6-foot-2, 203-pounder has begun to see interest come from other schools in the country including some of the top programs.
"I'm getting mail from Virginia, Boston College, Rutgers, Iowa as well as recently from Kansas State, Miami and Florida State," he said. "I like getting all the interest and it is exciting to see the new schools sending me stuff, but I wouldn't say I have any favorites right now. I don't think I'll know anything until May once schools evaluate me more and possibly offer."

With so many schools starting to show interest, what is Johnson looking for out of a college?
"I want to go to a school that has a reputation for playing quarterbacks with my size," he said. "I'm also going to be looking at the graduation rate of players. I want to see that they either graduate or get drafted in the NFL. One other thing that is big is the alumni situation. I want it to be helpful for me to get a job once I graduate."
Last season the quarterback prospect was named first team all-league, second team all-county and all-area after accounting for over 2,200 yards of offense and 23 touchdowns.
This spring Johnson plans to attend the Elite College Combine in May. He is looking to possibly go to summer camps at Iowa and Rutgers in June.
