Jersey mammoth has six offers

Rutherford (N.J.) St. Mary's offensive tackle Mike Schmeding is one of the biggest players in New Jersey at 6-foot-9 and 310 pounds. He currently has six offers and is waiting for that gut feeling before making a decision.
"I keep hearing that I'll know what school I want when I see it, a gut feeling or something," said Schmeding. "I'm waiting for that to happen before I do anything."

Schmeding has offers from UConn, Duke, Louisville, Michigan State, Kent State and Troy State.
"I'm heading out to Michigan State this week to check them out," he said. "I like how they are recruiting him heavy with mail and how agressive they are being. Maybe I'll get that feeling out there."
Schmeding is hoping for one local school to offer, but won't wait too long.
"I'd like an offer from Boston College, but if it doesn't happen that's cool," he said. "I camped there in June and liked it and they seemed very interested."
Schmeding, who was an all-league selection as a junior, is a very physical player.
"It's all about getting in your opponent's head if you know his habits and to begin to counter what he's thinking," he said. "Most importantly it's doing what you love, playing football in a physical, tough manner."
Schmeding certainly has football bloodlines. His father played at Arizona State and he has two uncles that played at Boston College. Another uncle and his grandfather played at Notre Dame as well and yet another uncle played at Minnesota.
