Jersey LB visits Rutgers, plans to go again

Colonia, N.J. linebacker Eric LeGrand made the short trip to Piscataway last weekend to check out Rutgers. The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder didn't get to do everything the first time around and plans to make another trip to the school this weekend.
"I liked what I saw, although I didn't get to stay for the whole practice," he said. "I got there and sat in a meeting room and their defense is awesome. I then went with the individual linebackers and I love that they use the 4-3 defense. That's my favorite. I also briefly talked with coach Susan and Schiano. They said they really want me there and were hoping to get a commitment.

"I told them I'll talk next week, but I'm not going to commit. I want to take some time and give a verbal before the season starts early this fall."
LeGrand plans to head back to Rutgers on Saturday for another visit.
"I just want to see more of the practice and this time it should be full contact," he said. "I think that's the only visit I have planned right now."
The Garden State prospect currently holds offers from Maryland, Rutgers and Virginia. Is anyone else close to presenting a scholarship?
"I don't know about offers and it's hard to say if I have any favorites," he stated. "Miami, Florida, Michigan State, North Carolina and Notre Dame are planning to come in and visit me later in May. We'll see what happens with them.
"I did grow up a fan of Miami, but I don't think that gives them an advantage. I do like the team, but I'd have to go and check it out and see if I fit in there."
Last season LeGrand registered 150 tackles and added 807 yards rushing on offense.
