Jersey junior attracting big names

Colleges are always looking for players to fight in the trenches and Willingboro (N.J.) offensive tackle/defensive tackle Shadeed Sabir has the size and skills to fulfill this need. At 6-foot-3 and 350 pounds, Shadeed squats 390 pounds and bench presses 275 pounds, and also has the intelligence to run either side of the line.
“He has good stamina and he is respectful," commented Shadeed's dad, Husain. “He’s not out trying to hurt anybody, even with his size.

“He is a good player and he is mobile. We are working on his speed with a speed coach, but he also throws the discus and the shot put.”
Shadeed's criteria for a college are a little different than many others'.
“He wants to go into architecture,” Husain commented. “He also needs an Islamic student body, because his religion is Islam."
Shadeed has grown up as a Miami fan and has received early interest from the Hurricanes. He is also receiving a lot of mail from Ohio State, Wisconsin, Syracuse, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
Last summer Sabir attended the Big Man Beast of the East Camp at Rowan College. He has not been able to attend any games this fall, however, since his high school plays most of its games on Saturdays.
Shadeed is an honor roll student and will take the SAT for the first time in November.
