Jersey ATH to transfer

Class of 2013 all-purpose back Elijah Hughes had a big junior season but will be at a new school next year.
Hughes, a 5-foot-8, 170-pound all-purpose back from Elizabeth, N.J., believes a change is in order and will benefit him as he prepares for his future.

"I'm actually transferring to Avon in Connecticut next year," Hughes said. "It's a prep school kind of like Don Bosco.
"It's just going to be better competition and it will help me get ready for the college lifestyle and college work."
Hughes is claiming verbal offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Akron, Towson and Youngstown State, so it's not as though he has gone unnoticed.
"The newest school to show interest recently is South Florida," he said. "They're showing me a lot of interest and I'm just waiting to see if they're going to pull through (with an offer)."
This year Hughes put up huge numbers at Elizabeth. He rushed for 1,100 yards and had 1,200 receiving yards with a total of 29 offensive touchdowns.
