Jersey ATH lands first offer

New Brunswick, N.J. stars Brandon Smith and Marquise Hamm have already made names for themselves in the 2008 recruiting class claiming multiple offers. Now a third prospect from the school has an offer from a Division I program in 6-foot-1, 172-pound athlete Paul Vigo.
"I got my offer Friday morning from Colorado," he said. "I'm definitely really excited about it, it's my first one.
"I really like the coach I've spoken to from there. I'm impressed with the changes they made at Boise State and now they've come over to Colorado and are changing the focus around there. I am thinking about going to visit there to see something different. I believe I'm going with Brandon and Marquise for their first game on an official in September."

Aside from Colorado, numerous other schools are checking out Vigo including Boston College, Syracuse, Connecticut, Buffalo and Temple.
"They all say I'm high on their prospect list and there shouldn't be any reason I don't get an offer in the future," he said. "I just don't know if they'll wait about an offer until the end of summer or my senior season.
"I am planning to go to camps at Boston College, Connecticut and probably Temple in June."
With interest from the ACC, Big East, Big 12 and MAC, does the Garden State prospect have a favorite?
"Right now I'm kind of favoring UConn and Boston College and I'm looking at Colorado a lot too," he said. "The thing about UConn is that they've been recruiting me for awhile now. I've developed a relationship with the coaches and been there on junior days before. I'm most familiar with them.
"I went up to Boston College too and like my recruiter from there. He's from Jersey and a real person I talk to regularly."
Besides obviously the relationship with the coaches, Vigo is looking for a few other things out of a school.
"I'm looking for academics, particularly a high graduation rate. I want to get a degree," he said. "I also want a good program with a solid reputation. Of course, I'd like to go somewhere I can get on the field and produce. As far as my position, I'm getting looked at for safety, linebacker and running back. I'm comfortable with whatever."
