Jersey ATH Gets Offer He Wanted

Amir Pinnix received one of the calls he’s been waiting for, an offer from Rutgers. The talented running back-safety from Newark (N.J.) Malcolm Shabazz has six schools he is hoping to get offers from and two of them have come through.
“I was hoping Rutgers would offer. I have offers from Rutgers and Indiana now and I’m looking for a few more. I’m waiting to hear from South Carolina, Iowa, Boston College and maybe one or two more, I just want to have options.”

Amir does not have any official visits set up although he is talking with Rutgers and Indiana about Dec. 6 and Dec. 13.
If Pinnix continues his stellar play, more offers are just around the corner. In four games this season, he has carried the ball 60 times for 562 yards and eight touchdowns. As a safety, he has made 22 tackles with two sacks and a number of bass breakups.
“I think I’ve played very well so far this year and Rutgers has been following me very closely. They are one of the schools that I’ve had my eye on so I was pumped when they offered.”
Amir is a tough player that has both speed and strength. His nose for the football is something that’s hard to teach and he is a good enough athlete to play either side of the ball in college.
“Some schools are recruiting me as a tailback and others as a safety or DB. I really have no preference as long as I play.”
Does Amir have a favorite?
“Well, I like both Indiana and Rutgers. Those two have always been on the top of my list. I just want to see what other offers come my way.”
