Jerry enjoying things at Hargrave

To get eligibility to head off to Ole Miss, Batesville (Miss.) South Panola offensive tackle John Jerry will be playing football at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Virginia this fall. The 6-foot-6, 315-pounder is enjoying life with his new team.
"It's a great place and I really like Hargrave," he said. "I don't like waking up in the morning, but we do some fun stuff and we're always busy which makes time go by much quicker. I enjoy having fun with the other guys, swimming and playing basketball when coach rewards us for practicing hard. As for the military part, it teaches you how to be a real man."

The No. 27 offensive tackle in the country in 2005 has high hopes for this team that is filled with talent all over the field.
"We're going to try to win every game as a team this year and get everyone together," he said. "We've got a lot of talent and once this team comes together we'll be all right. I've been impressed with everybody. Everyone is working hard, can play and run. The coaches have really helped me to get everything they can out of me. With these coaches, I'll get better everyday."
The three-star lineman certainly faces stiff competition with the likes of Melvin Alaeze, Callahan Bright and Jerrell Powe all of whom are attending Hargrave this fall.
"I know if I can stand up against these guys, I can stand up with anybody," he said. "I won't see too many people that are going to be better than them."
After taking time away from recruiting, is Jerry still committed to Ole Miss?
"I'm going back to Mississippi when I'm done here," he said. "It's a good school and only about 20 miles away from my home. I also think the coaches can help me get to the next level."
