Jerome Boyd Doesnt Make Visit To Arizona

Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey defensive back Jerome Boydwas expected to visit Arizona this past weekend but didn’t make the trip. The talented safety said he hasn’t heard from the Wildcats since the coaching change but is hoping to reschedule the visit down the road.
“I got a fed ex package from Arizona right after Coach (Mike) Stoops was named the new head coach,” Boyd said. “It basically just talked about who Coach Stoops was and listed some of his accomplishments. I haven’t gotten a phone call from them in awhile though so I wasn’t able to make the visit.

“I’m definitely interested though, everyone knows Coach Stoops knows defenses and I think they’ll be an exciting team to watch in the next few years. Next weekend I’ll be going to Washington and then I have Oregon (Jan. 9). San Diego State just called me and offered so I’m going to set a visit with them as well. It was kind of funny, they actually called me in my classroom. My teacher answered the phone and said ‘Jerome, it’s San Diego State on the line.’
“Washington is still my leader right now and has been recruiting me the hardest since day one. I really want to take all my trips before committing though. I at least want to see Oregon and see what they have to offer and then I think I’ll be ready to commit.”
Boyd and his Dorsey squad lost in the city section semi-finals last Friday to Carson 19-18 in what was a pretty big upset. Dorsey was 12-0 heading in to the game and had been steamrolling everyone they went up against.
“Man, I still can’t believe that, I’m speechless,” Boyd said. “We just didn’t make the plays in the end. It hurts, we had a great team but I guess it wasn’t meant to be.”
Academically, Boyd took the SAT for the second time this past Saturday and is confident he’ll qualify. He’s carrying a 2.6 GPA in the classroom.
