Covina (Calif.) South Hills athlete Jeremy Payton has solidified his commitment to Arizona State and will no longer be taking an official visit to Oregon State this weekend.
"I went to ASU this past weekend with Bryan and had a great time," Payton said. "It was my third time there and I just feel so comfortable there that I know there's no reason to look around any more. Oregon State recruited me hard and wanted me to come in as a receiver which was exciting to me but ASU is now telling me I can play receiver as well.
"I had a good year playing receiver and I'm excited to play that position in college. The opportunity to play with Bryan again, if he decides to come to ASU, is exciting to me as well. I already called up Oregon State to cancel my visit. Bryan is still going to take that visit but I'm solid with ASU and don't need to see anywhere else."
Payton, 6-1, 180 pounds earned All-State honors for the second year in a row this past season, this year as a wide out. He caught 54 balls for 907 yards and nine touchdowns this past season. Defensively, Payton finished the year with 43 tackles and a team leading seven interceptions.
