Jenks TE getting good looks

Jenks, Okla., has established itself as one of the top two programs in the state year in and year out, and it's also built itself into one of the must-stop spots for recruiters.
As recruiters make visits this spring to Jenks, one player that has started to catch people's eye is tight end/long snapper Tyler Ott.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Ott is a versatile athlete that some schools are recruiting as a fullback, a tight end, receiver and even a long-snapper.
"I move from position to position," Ott said. "I think that versatility definitely helps me. I run a 4.7 in the 40, so I'm big and have some good speed. I'm also a smart football player on the field. I know all the spots, all the reads."
Ott thinks he has a future at tight end with that type of athleticism. But he's also very interested in long-snapping in college.
"Mainly the schools are talking to me about tight end, but when they hear I can long snap, their eyes get a little bigger," he said. "My snap is .65 seconds. I was told under .7 seconds is what the NFL scouts are looking for, too. My coach here at Jenks has really helped me. He coached special teams in college, and it's helped me a ton."
Ott has one scholarship offer from Air Force. He also has an academic tender from Harvard. Other schools like Tulsa, Dartmouth, Kansas State, Kansas, Stanford, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Wisconsin are showing interest.
"Tulsa has really been talking to me," Ott said. "Air Force offered me recently. I had a guy from Dartmouth come and talk to me. It's really started to take off. Harvard definitely is interested.
"I'm a big advocate for education. Getting money to go to an Ivy League program would be ideal and hard to pass up. But I also have dreams of playing big-time college football."
