Word came out on Monday morning that Houston (Texas) Langham Creek quarterback Ross Jenkins was headed to a different school just days before Signing Day.
His father, Mark Jenkins, said that indeed his son had a change of heart after a late official visit which made the difference for him.
"That is true, he's headed to Louisiana Tech," Jenkins' father said. "It was nothing against Texas State because that is one of the hardest phone calls that he had to make. They were gracious the whole time and we really do thank them for the opportunity."
"He took a visit down there and he couldn't pass up the opportunity to play Division I football."
Jenkins' father says that it came down to whether or not his son could keeping dreaming about his pro potential.
"We felt like it was the best move at this point and time in his career," Jenkins' father said. "It was a close call, wrote it all down, and Louisiana Tech was on top. He just feels like that will be better for him to get where he wants to go down the road."
