JC punter scrambling for a school

Blinn (Texas) College punter Lance Lane took his only official visit so far over the weekend.

“I visited Temple over the weekend,” the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Lane said. “I had just gotten home to Texas when Temple called me to tell me they had just gotten a commitment from another kid. So, they are out.”

Lane still has a couple other options.

“I’m still talking to Kansas,” he said. “They told me they were waiting on another kid. It is the same kid that committed to Temple. So, they are going to be moving on, soon. I was talking to A&M. They decided to go a different direction and use the guy they had this year, rather than bring in someone new.”

Lane, who has already graduated, could be on hold until the bowl season gets a little closer to being over.

“Kansas told me tonight they were backing away from recruiting a little bit to let things settle down,” he said. “I’m sure they’ll be working on their bowl game stuff, so it might be a while for me with them. I think there is a good chance for an offer from Kansas.

“If nothing works out with them, I do have options with some smaller schools.”
