Jay Smith sticking with the Wolfpack

Soon after his commitment to North Carolina State in November, Norfolk (Va.) Lake Taylor wide receiver Jay Smith found out the news of head coach Chuck Amato's firing. The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder began to reconsider his decision. Has the hiring of Tom O'Brien solidified the four-star prospect's verbal to the Wolfpack?
"I've talked to Jay and he's going to honor his commitment to North Carolina State," Lake Taylor head coach Hank Sawyer said. "He really likes the state and school. Everything really made him want to stick with NC State.

"He also has been in touch with Tom O'Brien and he seems to really like him. Jay has been familiar with coach O'Brien when he was at Boston College and I think is impressed he's coming from a successful place."
Sawyer went on to discuss what kind of player the Wolfpack are receiving.
"He's an exceptional kid that has size and speed," he said. "He's very strong and a great perimeter blocker. I've never seen a receiver bring the things to the table he does. He has those things you can't coach."
