What a weekend it was for the Oklahoma Sooners. Jamal Morris, Arjei Henderson and Theo Wease got things started Friday with verbal commitments to Lincoln Riley. Derek Green followed with his commitment Saturday.

Jarrian Jones wanted to keep that momentum going and kick off the new week in a good way, so he has announced he is part of the 2019 Oklahoma class.

The 6-foot, 189 pound defensive back out of Flowood (Miss.) Northwest Rankin had this planned.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "It's family at Oklahoma and that is one reason I committed to them," said Jones. "Coach Riley and I have been planning this for a long time. This weekend just solidified everything. Me and my parents loved it.

"I was planning to let Coach Riley know the news over the weekend, so I have had this in mind for about two weeks. I told the coaches all at one time and they were all excited when I let them know. They got very loud and welcomed me to the family.

"The feeling in Norman is like none other. Family is a big deal to me. My parents connected more with OU on more than just coach and parent stand point. It was deeper than it was with other schools. I feel like I fit more into Oklahoma’s system too.

"My Recruitment is shut down. I am 100-percent committed and I am ready to enroll in January. I'm blessed to be committed to Oklahoma. It is a dream come true."

RIVALS REACTION: This is big for Oklahoma. The commitment is not really a big shocker, but maybe a little surprising. Jones was at Alabama last weekend and the Crimson Tide gave him a lot to think about. Before visiting Oklahoma, Jones had planned to return to Tuscaloosa this weekend for their spring game. Mississippi State was at one time the favorite to land Jones as well. He has been on the verge of committing to the Bulldogs at least once before. In the end, Jones said he felt most at home in Norman and this is a very good pick up for the Sooners. He is a gifted athlete who can move around in the defensive secondary. His ball skills are on a high level and he has great quickness. Jones plays with confidence and he will be a guy others love playing with on the next level.
