Jarrett takes an official to UVA

Virginia played host to one prospect over the weekend. The Cavaliers hosted a 5-foot-10, 165-pound kicker out of the Commonwealth. What did the prospect think of the trip?
"It went really well," Virginia Beach (Va.) Cox kicker Drew Jarrett said. "Actually, I had a really good time. I got taken around by my host Andrew Devlin. He's a cool guy.

"They originally were going to have me with one of the kickers, but I thought that would be awkward. Coach Groh actually wanted me to be with someone else. He put me with Devlin and we had a really good time."
Jarrett went on about the official.
"Well, basically I got there Friday and went to my hotel and had dinner with Coach Pruett," he said. "Then on Saturday I went around campus with Devlin and met some of the other players. I also met some of the lacrosse recruits. On Saturday night I went to an end of season banquet. It was nice and I got personal attention.
"I sat at Coach Groh's table with his wife. That was fun."
While Jarrett didn't get a one-on-one with Groh, he did with the other coaches.
"I actually didn't because Coach Groh was busy with Senior Bowl," he said. "But I did talk with Coach Price and Coach Pruett. I spent the whole weekend with Coach Pruett. He was trying to get me to commit on the spot, but I wasn't ready to commit."
As far as an offer, the two-star prospect still holds a walk-on.
"They didn't offer and are still saying that I'll have to earn the scholarship for January next year," he said. "That's not going to change."
Currently Jarrett plans to take an official next weekend to Virginia Tech.
"I have to talk to Coach Newsome and Beamer about that. That is the plan right now."
