Jammer emerges with first offer

There is a sleeper cornerback prospect emerging in Sweeny, Texas – Chris Jammer.
Jammer, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound, picked up first-team all-district honors as a junior and honorable mention all-district honors as a sophomore. The rising prospect has already picked up his first scholarship offer from UTEP, a familiar school to one of his family members.

"One of my cousins is Johnnie Lee Higgins and then Quentin (Jammer) is my second cousin," Jammer said. "I got my first offer from UTEP yesterday. I talked to 'Lee' and he told me to keep doing what I'm doing."
Jammer is also receiving mail and interest from a variety of schools including Rice, Sam Houston State, Texas A&M, Texas State and others. While he's been to a few camps so far, including Rice and UTEP, he's planning to go to Texas State next month as well.
As for favorites, Jammer says he's keeping things open.
"I'm just weighing my options," Jammer said. "I probably won't decide until after my senior season. I just want to see who still wants me then and so I have a chance to go on some visits."
Originally, Jammer moved up to varsity as a sophomore after two games with anticipation to play offense. He ended up on defense and found his true position, but did play receiver as a junior.
"I'm not afraid to go in and hit the running backs and the quarterbacks," he said. "I'm not one of those people that like to just stay on the pass. I like cornerback blitzes a lot and we've got one that's made just for me. In 3A, they don't throw a whole lot, so I like to get in there with the blitz."
