James to trim list this spring

Andre James has 13 scholaship offers. He also has a plan.
"I'm going to start narrowing down sometime this spring," James said. " I'll have a top 8 sometime this spring."

That top eight will be released despite limited travel. James won't take an unofficial visit to every school on his offer list. In fact, he won't even come close. Instead, most of his visits will come after he narrows things down.
For now, his campus tours will be limited, but they won't be non-existent.
"Me and my dad really want to go visit Ohio State," James said. "I have family out there. My grandma and grandpa on my dad's side live out in Ohio. If we make one visit, it will probably be to Ohio State. .
The Buckeyes represent James' most recent offer. The Herriman (Utah) High School offensive tackle doesn't try to mask his excitement over the opportunity, either. He admits that he has plenty left to learn about Ohio State, but says there's already plenty to like.
"Urban Meyer totally turns teams around and wins a lot of games," James said. He turned Utah around. That's all I really know. I know he wins games, and I love that."
According to James, Arkansas and BYU could be next to make things official with a scholaship offer. He's admittedly shocked that in-state BYU hasn't pulled the trigger yet. Still, a relationship is in place.
"I love the BYU O-line coach," James said. "He's one of the nicest guy to talk to. I really like him. I still think that they're gonna offer once I visit there, I'm sure."
James' decision will ultimately be based on his visits, both official and unofficial. Even at his young age, he understands that, in recruiting, seeing is believing. His choice won't come until he's exhausted his five official visits this fall.
"I want to take visits because every school will say the same things," James said. "It's hard to pick through the garbage without seeing it."
