Los Angeles (Calif.) Venice wide receiver James Lewis
committed to Oregon State way back in October but after taking an official visit to Utah in late December, the talented athlete said he wants to be a Ute.

“I tripped there with Gerold (Rodriguez) and loved it,” Lewis said. “The snow was great and we both had a great time on the snow mobiles and hanging out with the other players there. The main thing for me was the offense at Utah. They do a ton of four and five receiver sets and it’s a lot like what we do at Venice.
“To be honest, my commitment to Oregon State was always pretty soft and I’m not even sure if I ever actually gave them a commitment. I told them they were my top school but I think my coach is the one who told them I was committed. I’m excited about Utah and feel it’s a great fit for me. I wanted to announce my decision at the CaliFlorida Bowl but they didn’t have time to do it during the game.”
Lewis, 6-1, 200 pounds, had a huge senior season earning L.A City Player of the Year honors after catching 48 balls for 1,020 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also rushed for one score and added three others on returns.
