James could be close to pledge

Arizona and Boise State have emerged as the two favorites for Chanceller James but his recruitment could be coming to an end soon especially if he likes his upcoming trip to Boise.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound safety from Spring Valley (Calif.) Steele Canyon has booked an unofficial visit to Boise State for Aug. 19 and if things go well then James said he's strongly considering a commitment.

"This is really important because my mom is going with me," James said.
"It's really important for her to see it and see how Idaho is and see if it's good enough for me to go there. I might commit when I go up there so it's really important to see the place and make my decision."
James, who has visited UCLA, Arizona and San Diego State this summer, said Arizona is also very much in the running and he could visit again by the end of August if he wants to wait things out a little more in his recruitment.
His first trip to Tucson this summer went well and a return trip is a strong possibility.
"When I went up there I really liked the campus and the coaches," James said. "I talked to all of them and coach (Mike) Stoops is a good guy.
"When I was up there at the camp I met Adam Hall and I talked to him and I asked him about everything. He's really chill and he said next time I come up for a visit he'd show me everything so I like that.
"They're welcoming and they had a nice campus so I really liked that too. If I go there I know where everything is and I know people who are out there so I wouldn't be homesick."
So far, James, who shined this spring at the Los Angeles Under Armour Combine, lists offers from Air Force, Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Colorado, New Mexico, San Diego State and Eastern Washington.
Rivals.com rates James as the No. 44 safety in the 2012 class and No. 96 in the California state rankings.
