Jakorey Hawkins commits to Ole Miss

Jakorey Hawkins almost committed to Missouri late in the summer, but he decided to hold off on that decision.

Tuesday night, the Montgomery (Ala.) Lee defensive back committed to another SEC school — Ole Miss.

"I called the coached and committed to Ole Miss," Hawkins told Rivals.com Tuesday night. "I chose Ole Miss because they never stopped recruiting me like some other schools did. They stayed with me."

Hawkins visited Oxford (Miss.) over the summer and despite the off the field issues, he felt good enough about the school to go ahead and commit to the Rebels.

"I felt very comfortable when I was on the visit and I really like how the team is playing hard for the coaches. They are still giving it their all."

When Hawkins came to the conclusion that he was ready to commit to Ole Miss, he called head coach Matt Luke and defensive backs coach Derek Jones.

All were excited about the decision Hawkins made. The new Ole Miss coach is not thinking about the changes that could be made. He is just excited about being committed to

"I am not worried about possible coaching changes," said Hawkins. "I am excited to be committed to Ole Miss."
