Jaheim Bell finally reveals he's a Gamecock

It was announced Dec. 18, but this one was over a long time ago.

Jaheim Bell has announced that he is going to South Carolina Wednesday, but he could have you that early summer. That's right — like June.

"I knew it was South Carolina after I took my official visit [June 7]," said Bell. "I’ve been a silent commit for about six months.

"I took several unofficial visits and it felt like home because there were a lot of players and coaches I was connected with in some type of way there.

"The consistency with the coaches, how they kept recruiting me even when I was committed to Florida, how they have a great education program and the great facilities that there that I can perfect my craft in are big reasons why I chose South Carolina."

Bell let some very close friends and family members in on the secret, but he tried to keep this as quiet as possible. He said the Gamecocks want to use him all over the field.

He will be playing for a new offensive coordinator in Mike Bobo, a former high school star in south Georgia, like Bell. Bell likes what he knows so far.

"Coach Bobo's from down south (Thomasville) and he is very competitive and wants to win every rep," said Bell.

In late September, Bell's season came to an end due to a torn ACL. He is working hard to get back and be ready to compete in Columbia next season.

"Rehab is going great. Right now I’m in the stage of getting my quad back stronger. In about a month I’ll start back running and doing some field work."

Bell is not an early enrollee.
