Jags land South Florida athlete

Cape Coral (Fla.) Island Coast three-star athlete Mike Dumas took an official visit to South Alabama this past weekend. That was all the 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete needed to make a decision.
"I committed," Dumas said. "The decision to go there was because the program is up-and-coming. I like the team. Coming up here was a great experience. It is a great place."

Dumas, who handled quarterback duties as well as other positions for his high school squad, will be lining up on defense for the Jaguars.
"They want to use me as a free safety," Dumas said. "That is where I want to play."
During the visit to Mobile, Alabama, Dumas was surprised by the growth of the program that is making the transition to Division I.
"I was surprised by all of the new buildings that they are working on," Dumas said. "During the time I am there they are going to be opening some new stuff. The program is just going to keep getting bigger and getting out there more."
The South Florida prospect says he is firm in his decision.
"It is a program that is only going to get better," Dumas said. "It is just the right kind of place for me."
Dumas opted for South Alabama over Connecticut, Florida International, Iowa, Iowa State, and North Carolina.
